Juanjo Sáez studied art at the Escola Massana and the Comic course at the Joso and, after participating in fanzines now cult as Círculo Primigenio, his work as a cartoonist made him stand out, for his brilliance and originality, in the most diverse fields since its inception.
His work has stood out in areas such as advertising for international brands (first prize at the San Sebastian Advertising Festival and two gold medals at the Cannes International Advertising Festival), design, publishing, press and audiovisual.

His works include Viviendo del cuento ( Astiberri, 2019), winner of the Junceda award for best book for adults, which was followed by. Art. (Random House, 2006; expanded edition, Astiberri Ediciones, 2016).
Likewise, his collaborations in the press, both national and overseas, have been the origin of books such as Crisis de ansiedad ( Penguin Random House, 2013), of a more political mood, or Hit emocional ( Sexto Piso, 2015), a kind of musical autobiography.

He is also the creator of the animated television series Arròs covat / Arroz pasado, in which the adventures and misadventures of a young man in his thirties are told with lucidity and humor.
The series broke the mold and was such a success with audiences and critics (Ondas award in Spain and Expotoons award in Argentina) that it was renewed for three seasons.
The storyboard of the series was also published in book format(Arroz pasado, Random House, 2010).

After the success of this first series, in 2018 he premieres the second animated series of his own creation for television, Heavies tendres / Heavies tiernos, a journey to the author's childhood to tell us an endearing story of friendship, adolescence and heavy-metal.
He is currently preparing his new comic, Para los míos.
