Last Thursday, September 14, at the CaixaForum in Barcelona, took place the award ceremony of the Carnet Jove 2023 Scholarships.
The event was attended by the young winners and representatives of the collaborating companies.
The Agència Catalana de la Joventut offers twelve scholarships every year, among which the comic scholarship.
This year’s winner benefits from the publication of his or her humorous cartoons in the magazine El Jueves, in addition to an economic endowment.
On this occasion, the recent alumnus of Joso’s professional Art Grafic course, Andrés Barrera, has won the award thanks to the creation of an original and humorous script, an excellent drawing quality and, of course, for his talent.
At Joso, we already knew Andres’ qualities, so we are not surprised.
What does is that we are proud and happy for him.
To evaluate and decide among the many applications submitted, an evaluation committee was formed by five members: representatives of the Agència Catalana de la Joventut, Norma Editorial, Ediciones El Jueves, FICOMIC and members of APIC.
Qualified professionals who opted for the ingenuity and creativity of Andrés Barrera.
Andrés came to Joso as a 14-year-old boy who liked Japanese culture.
That was the reason why, at first, he came every Saturday to the Manga course.
Once he finished, he wanted more.
So he decided to train as a professional for four more years with us in the Art Grafic course.
Years of effort, of not stopping to draw, of learning from teachers and classmates, of enjoying, of friends, of laughter and more drawing, drawing, drawing.
Andres ‘ talent and attitude is already taking him far.
A well-deserved scholarship.
Congratulations, Andrés!
