Post-show exhaustion, Easter in between… Surely, we are a little late with our chronicle of the 41st Comic Barcelona, so we explain it from a different point of view than the rest of the chronicles.
Here it goes!
9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31. A person runs along Maria Cristina Avenue in Barcelona.
Surrounding an endless queue and dodging obstacles made of journalists and television cameras, he manages to reach Hall 5 of the Fira.
He shows his accreditation ( pip) and enter.
Originals from Escobarby David Lopezstoryboards by director Álex de la Iglesia… but you can’t dawdle, you haven’t reached your destination yet.
Later.
Under a scorching sun – increasingly common for this early time of the year – and the smell of all the food in the world coming from the food trucks, he arrives at Hall 2.
Your eyes don’t need to get used to the change of light to finally see it.
The Joso stand .
Así empezaban tres días frenéticos llenos de cómics, clases magistrales, firmas y reencuentros con un montón de amigues artistas.
Let’s go back to the booth.
As always, the staff of the Joso –Mariona, Carles, Coral and those of us who came and went, like Adriana, who could be seen following the news everywhere at once – they run the place, informing and welcoming teachers, former students and artists in general, with a smile and coffee.
One of the things we are most proud of at the Joso is the talent of the students.
For this reason, there is never a lack of space at the stand.
In this edition, a tsunami of fanzines, each one better and better, flooded every counter, making a certain person who tells you about the experience a little bit ruined when she couldn’t resist acquiring such works.
You can take a look at the fanzines in our Instagram feed, that one who says she writes and Robert with his designs have left it beautiful.
But the booth was not the only thing, far from it, that Joso brought to the 41st Comic Barcelona. 41 Comic Barcelona.
Caminamos hacia la zona de talleres y llegamos al escenario ComiXperiencewhere Josep Maria Polls, Santi Casas y Jordi Pastor are the masters of ceremonies of the masterclasses. And OMG the Masterclasses! A list of names is coming to give you an idea: Àlex Fuentes y Damian, Danide, Pere Perez, Sara Soler, Loreto Aroca, Maribel Conejero, Ernest Sala y Mado Peña, Rafa Barragan y Sandra Diaz.
Y colándose por la izquierda, la loca grabación del podcast Random timewith Kenny Ruiz, Renato Roldan, Vicente Vegas y Enrique Vegas. CA-SI-NA-DA. Have you also imagined an “oé!” behind every name?
Emmm… ok.
Nothing, nothing… Well, for the next post I’ll ask Genís to put sound effects, he’s a crack at the controls of the Enterprise of the ComiXperienceI’m sure he’ll do it great too.
The workshop and the drawing contest are very close to each other.
The new addition of Joso, Oihane, and the wonderful artist María are in charge of making sure everything goes smoothly. Did you participate? If so, the handsome guys who taught the workshop were Alejandro, Arkaitz and Rafa, former students, great artists and even better people. A few steps further, Oriol, Irene and Berta helped bring your drawings to life in the animation workshop .
Did you know that the Joso is part of the international project Comic Art Europe? The Visions of Tomorrow exhibition, born from this initiative of four partners from four different countries, also took place at 41 Comic Barcelona.
You can read more about this expo in the previous article on the Joso News.
Now, let’s go for a little walk.
Well, a walk, what you call a walk? Since, every two steps in these three days, we meet friends like Konata, Danide, Santi Casas, Eva XGreen, Míriam Bonastre, Xavi Benítez, Sagar, Jandro, Carlos Moreno, Sara Soler, Francis Portela and a long etcetera that oblige us, with great pleasure, to stop to say hello and to take some beautiful signatures.
Thank you very much!
Well, nothing, we have appeared in the Artist Alley y Fanzine Zone and we have kind of ruined ourselves a little bit more with the passing of prints and cosis from les queridísimes Enara y Misha, Fer Casaus, Paula Aránega, Efra Perez, Ramon F. Bachs, Alex Santaló y Alex Gallego.
Corre!
Go out to the square.
Get some air.
It’s already Sunday, April 2 at around six o’clock in the evening.
We return to the person who ran at the beginning of this chronicle.
A group of 4th of Art Grafic sees her and greets her.
The person approaches. “How is it going?” Three of them, Adrià, Cèlia and Romina, tell us that during the show they have had interviews with publishers. What a thrill! You always learn from this experience.
Today it’s not about whether you get a job or not.
It’s about knowing how it works.
It’s about living it.
Living it and continuing to learn.
And that’s what we want at Joso. That you never stop learning.
May you never stop drawing.
And may you be happy doing what you like the most.
So, after three frenetic days of comics, master classes, signings, and reunions with a lot of artist friends, we are left with this idea that always accompanies us.
Never stop imagining.
Never stop creating.
Never stop drawing.
