In a place in Japan whose name is Tokyo, not long ago, on April 25, Ken Niimura presented at the Spanish Embassy his exhibition The Best of the Spanish Golden Age. Don Quixote de la Mancha, El Lazarillo de Tormes, El Burlador de Sevilla are just examples of the reinterpretations of what you can find if you travel to the Japanese capital these days.
This exhibition aims to bring the classics of Spanish literature closer to Japanese culture, which is achieved by the illustrations of the Eisner winner together with the language of philologist Oriol Corcoll.
The illustrations are amazing and did you notice the background? Marta Gràcia, also known as Maya Nara and former student of Concept Art at Joso, worked on this project and managed to create an incredible atmosphere.
She had the help of Carolina Roda, current student of Concept Art.
We recommend you also take a look at her Instagram accounts: @itsmayanara and @carolinaroda_.
You’ll be amazed.
If you are in Tokyo, you can see the exhibition The Best of the Spanish Golden Age by Ken Niimura from April 25 to May 26 for free at the Spanish Embassy in the Japanese capital.
