The foundation of acclaimed Catalan writer Jordi Sierra i Fabra and Editorial Cruïlla have launched a new contest for young artists.
If you are under 23 years old and you like to draw, now you have the opportunity to participate in the Antònia Cortijos Illustration Award and see your work published.
This first edition has the objective, as dictated by its terms and conditions “to stimulate young illustrators’ pleasure in creation through works that reflect universal values of peace, love, harmony and respect, with which to contribute to creating a better world, full of hope, in which books play an essential role and new generations of illustrators grow steadily.”
This is a children’s picture book contest, whose winner will be published by Editorial Cruïlla.
In addition, the winner will receive a prize of 1,500 €.
The theme is free although it must be taken into account that it is for girls and boys and must reflect values.
To participate you must be under 23 years old and you will have to submit five illustrations and the storyboard of the rest of the book.
If you win, you will have three more months to finish the work, which must have a minimum of 32 pages.
You have time until December 31.

This award is named after the recently deceased painter, writer, illustrator of children’s stories Antònia Cortijos Sánchez, who was vice-president of the foundation that organized the contest.
Antònia Cortijos was also the wife and life partner of the writer Jordi Sierra i Fabra.
An incredible story that the writer tells us very well in his autobiography El largo y tortuoso camino, a novel in comic form drawn by Carlos Moreno, professor of the Manga course at Escola Joso.
