The first week of July (from 1 to 6), took place in Amadora, Portugal, the Training Week organized by the European project Comics Beyond, where a group of twelve comic artists were able to stimulate and have been provided with skills in different areas such as recruitment, administration, creation, negotiation and other creative forms. All activities focused on three main themes: museum, games and music.
The objective of this Training Week is to reinforce the employability of European comic artists by allowing them to acquire knowledge and professional assets during the training week to develop new skills such as: entrepreneurship, the creation of comic and music shows, video games or collaborations with museums.
It has been a week full of cultural and artistic exchange, seminars, workshops and many, many comics. Jordi Sempere, cartoonist and teacher at Joso, was one of the people in charge of giving and participating in these talks.
All the feedback received has been more than good. Both speakers and artists speak of the experience as something very positive that they would repeat in a heartbeat.
Comics Beyond is the new initiative of the partnership formed by Comic Art Museum Brussels in Belgium, Amadora BD / Amadora Municipality in Portugal, On a Marché sur le Bulle in France and Visiona / COMICON Napoli in Italy, with Escola Joso being a partner of the project along with The Lakes International Comic Art Festival, Art Bubble and Rendez-Vous de la Bande Dessinée d’Amiens.
