After completing the animation course, with the help of the school and the faculty, I had the opportunity to be part of an animated feature film production at Estudio Mariscal as a junior.
I am currently at Nomada Studios, exploring production in the field of video games in the clean-up department.
At the same time, I've had several commissions and project collaborations; where I've been able to see the different types of pipelines of each studio and introduce myself little by little in the industry.
Since I was a child animation has caught my attention, I was one of those kids who stopped the cartoon tapes to see how they drew some frames.
So, although during the last years I already had a career focused on comics and illustration, I wanted to make a stop on the way to sign up for the Joso animation course and finally get a little bit into this world that I had always liked.
The experience in the course was very good and I found that I liked animating more than I expected.
Besides, the style of drawing I normally use is very cartoonish and "animable", so it became even more natural to me.
During the year we made three short films (two spots for Primavera Sound and the official spot for Manga Barcelona) and each work we finished was a plus of energy and self-confidence.
After finishing the course and thanks to Juan Carlos, one of our teachers, some students were lucky enough to work for several weeks in 'They Shot the Piano Player', the latest film by Javier Mariscal and Fernando Trueba, thus putting the first paw in the industry officially.
Thanks to the fact that the teachers work actively in the sector, after finishing the course I had the opportunity, along with a couple of other classmates, to enter the final stretch of the feature film They Shot The Piano Player, directed by Javier Mariscal and Fernando Trueba.
There I met many people in the industry, and I was able to be part for the first time of a pipeline and a huge project led by many other people; I keep that first experience in the world of animation with great affection.
In addition to this, a month after finishing the course I got an internship at Nomada Studio thanks to their agreement with Joso.
Finally, I had the enormous privilege of, thanks to being part of the class of 2021-2022 and meeting Juan Carlos Concha, doing an animation test for Walking The Dog Studio, which I managed to pass and I am preparing to travel to Brussels to work on Sylvain Chomet's next film.
To anyone reading this who is considering getting into this course, I encourage you to do so!
I wouldn't have achieved any of these things if it wasn't for the enormous support Escola Joso has given me.
It was well worth it
After leaving the Joso I participated briefly in the animation and clean up of a video clip of Búhos, then I started working as assistant technical director in the new film (yet to be released) of Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal, I worked there for two years and it was undoubtedly the best experience I've had, with a very good atmosphere and a lot of learning.
During the production of the film I also worked, this time as an animator, in a short animation called "L'Oiseau blanc", which is currently still being presented at festivals.
And recently I have participated as clean up artist and colorist in a short animation film (also still to be released) and as animator and clean up artist in a couple of commercials.
Right now I'm looking for work both in Spain and abroad, sending my reel to the projects or jobs that catch my attention or that are looking for someone with my profile.
