The professional course of Illustration of Escola Joso is an introduction to the profession and to most of the techniques and specializations that it uses.
It bases its objectives on the achievement of a solid base of drawing and a better knowledge of the professional sector.
This course is distributed in three years.
The first year concentrates on the learning of drawing, with the objective of obtaining a solid foundation in the basic concepts.
The second year builds on the knowledge acquired to begin learning the use of color techniques, both manually and digitally.
Finally, the third year has the objective of helping the student to develop a personal project to be presented in a professional environment.
The objective of the course is to provide the student with the necessary tools to face the work of a professional illustrator.
The first year focuses on the basics of drawing and the uses and applications of illustration in the publishing world and the visual arts market.
The second year builds on the knowledge acquired in the previous year to begin learning the use of color techniques, both manually and digitally, guiding the student in the process of final and professional finishing of a graphic work.
The cornerstone of the third year is the development of projects and the approach to the professional field. It aims to professionalize the student’s objectives, strengthening their artistic talent and providing them with the necessary skills to optimize both personal projects and commissions for the publishing, press, advertising, etc. markets.
The professional course of Illustration Illustration aims that the student finds his own way of expression and is able to develop any professional illustration project.
Here the teachers assume the fictitious role of the client.
During the course the students will have to accept a series of assignments that simulate the professional reality in all its natural steps, from the detailed briefing of the assignment to its realization and subsequent delivery.
The intention is to work on different aspects that students will encounter in their professional life.
Delivery dates, technical specifications or versatility when defending one's own work.
Throughout the realization of the assignment, the teachers will leave their role of client and will provide a personalized follow-up to each student, to accompany, advise or challenge the students in their work.
The course will be taught by specialized teachers of great experience and professional trajectory and will count with the occasional intervention of external professionals, representatives of the diversity of styles and genres of Illustration.

Access to the Art Grafic, Illustration, Concept Art, Drawing Initiation, Advanced Drawing and Digital Illustration courses is through the completion of a level test.
It is not necessary to have previous studies to access these courses, although having completed higher artistic studies will be valued.
Access to the Art Grafic course is through a level test that consists of making a drawing following some guidelines.
Normally, the test takes place during the month of April and there are usually two calls.
The correction and notification of results are communicated about 10 days after taking the test.
If you do not pass the test, our course coordination team will guide you to access other courses.
Access to the Concept Art and Illustration courses is also through a level test.
In case you do not pass the test, our course coordination team will guide you so that you can continue training with us to reach your goals.
The access to the Animation course is through an interview with the course coordinator Juan Carlos Concha.
A specific book will be required.
Access to the Children’s Illustration course is through an interview with the head of studies José Ma Polls.
It will be necessary to present a book.

Normally, every year, during the month of March, we hold open house sessions to inform about everything related to our courses.
